Since 1883

Chanel

Chanel has defined luxury trends for over 100 years
and has always been a pioneer of modernity.

Since 1883, Chanel has constantly reinvented itself,
embracing innovation and challenging existing boundaries through creativity.

Today, it remains true to the spirit of its founder, Gabrielle Chanel,
who invented true “liberation” through bags and accessories that
are as creative as they are elegant and practical.

*The Allure of Chanel by Paul Morand, Hermann, 1996 © Man Ray Trust / ADAGP Paris 2016

Gabrielle Chanel lived her life as she alone intended.
The trials of a childhood as an orphan and the successes of an accomplished businesswoman
gave birth to an extraordinary character; daring, free, and ahead of her time

Faithful friendships and passionate love affairs, as well as a thirst
for culture, discovery and travel helped shaped her personality.

A wardrobe freed from constraints and superfluity,
tweaked with masculine accents, created a visionary allure
that has become timeless and yet wildly modern.

Pearls and diamonds casually paired with iconic perfumes have created a signature style...

That of an avant-garde woman, a pioneer whose lifestyle
and multiple facets forged the values of the House she founded,
and who remains an inspiration for all women.
  • In 1930, Chanel appeared in public again, wearing trousers
and a sailor shirt, with her short hair blowing in the wind.

For a long time, Gabrielle Chanel attempted something special that no one had attempted before.

One day in 1920, she and Misia Sert were spending leisurely time tanning on the warm sunny Lido Beach in Venice. After immersing herself in outdoor sports and leisure activities such as golf, skiing, sailing, and fishing for a long time, she was able to realize what true happiness is.

Prior to this, in 1906, under the influence of Étienne Balsan, he opened his eyes to horseback riding, and later became deeply interested in horseback riding along with Boy Capel, the Duke of Westminster, who was a natural polo player.

Gabrielle Chanel's connection with sports led to the creation of a collection that laid the foundation for today's sportswear, although she did not call it 'sportswear' at the time.

"I made sports dresses for myself, not because other women played sports, but because I loved sports. I didn't go outdoors to design the clothes.
I came up with the clothes while I was outdoors. In this moment. , It was to enjoy life the way I wanted."*
